J.T. attended the Faith Chapel Church and enjoyed discussing salvation with Pastor Dave Bragg.

He touched thousands of lives, as a school bus driver and businessman, in and around the Hope area, during his life and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

J.T. operated three different service stations in Hope during the 1960's, Jay's Bait Shop during the 1970's on the Hope Square, and Jay's Carpet Installation for 40 years. J.T. enjoyed listening to music on the Hope town square during Heritage Days. J.T. and his brothers owned the land where they attended school as children and he lovingly cared for the property after their deaths, keeping the trees trimmed and grass mown until he was no longer able to continue keeping the property maintained.

He enjoyed attending family reunions each year in the Columbia, Kentucky area, where he grew up.

J.T. is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Ruth (Kanouse) Compton; children, Mike (Donita) Compton of Columbus and Deborah (Chris) Andrews of Mooresville; grandson, Ian (Kaetlin) Andrews; and great-granddaughter, Wren Andrews.
