Glen S. Keller
Glen S. Keller, 84, of Columbus, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at his home.

He graduated from Hope High School in 1951. Glen received a BA from Indiana Central College in 1957 and a MS from Butler University in 1960. He then received his EDA from Indiana University. Glen served in the United States Army from 1955-1957.

Glen had a passion for people. He served his community as Principal of Clifford Elementary from 1957-1959; Principal of Petersville Elementary from 1959-1965; Principal of Hauser High School from 1965-1985; Superintendent of Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corporation from 1985-1995; and served on RQAW Architect and Engineers from 1995-2012. Glen owned and operated Keller-Newsome Auctions from 1975-2007.

In his spare time he enjoyed working with family members on the farm and loved serving in various civic organizations, boards, and as a volunteer fireman. Glen was past president of the Hope Lions Club, member of Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, past member of the Heritage of Hope Board of Directors, founding charter member of the Hope Kiwanis Club.

Glen was a lifetime member of Hope Moravian Church where he served on numerous boards both locally and provincially. He taught Sunday School for 20 years and was a strong advocate and active participant in the church camping ministry.

Born on April 15, 1933 in Hope, Glen was the son of Keith and Edith Powell Keller. He married Jane Thayer on May 31, 1959, and she survives.

Other survivors include three children, Richard (JoAnn) Keller, Susan (Jeff) Gilbert, and Amy Keller; grandchildren, Dustin (Pam) Gilbert and Kyleigh Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Mason, Lily, Chase, and Briellyn; and sister, Mary Louise (Carlos) Crain.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Omer and Paul Keller.

The funeral will be Thursday, Sept. 7th at 2 p.m. at Hope Moravian Church with Pastor Andy Kilps officiating. Viewing will be Wednesday, Sept. 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hauser High School Gymnasium and from noon until time of service on Thursday at the church. A Masonic service will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the school. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the One Room School House or Midstates Youth Ministry Committee (MSYMC).
