Editor's Note: The following is the proposed text of a proposed ordinance regulating recreational vehicles in Hope, as provided by the clerk's office on Feb. 8th. It is subject to change.
An Ordinance amending Chapter 8 of the Hope Town Code
Whereas, the Hope Town Council has reviewed the Hope Town Code and has determined that Chapter 8, should be amended as follows;
Now therefore, be it ordained by the Town Council of the Town of Hope, Indiana:
1. That Chapter 8, Article 13, as follows:
§ 8-85 Recreational Vehicles.
(A) Operational automotive vehicles larger than a full size pick-up, or boats, trailers, campers, otherwise recreational vehicles and the like shall be stored inside a structure or parking or stored on a paved or gravel surface either behind the required minimum front yard setback of in the side of the rear of the property and located at least five feet from the property line. In situations where the vehicles are not visible from an adjoining property or public roadway they can be located within the front yard;
(B) In multi-family manufactured home parks, or townhouse developments, the storage of recreation vehicles or boats as listed above shall be in designated areas only. The designated area shall be illustrated on the appropriate zoning permit or site plan;
(C) In business districts, recreational vehicles or boats shall be placed in designated storage areas only, which are indicated on the approved site plan and not in any designated parking area;
(D) USE: At no time shall a stored recreational vehicle, trailers, campers, boats and the like be occupied or used for living, sleeping or home business purposes;
(E) Upon notification of said violation, resident will have forty-eight (48) hours to remove the operational automotive vehicle larger than a full size pick-up, or boats, trailers, campers, otherwise recreational vehicles and the like, or render said in compliance with ordinance. In the event this is not remedied within forty-eight (48) hours, said shall be fined $25 per day that violation occurs.
This Ordinance is hereby passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Hope, Indiana this _______ day of ___________________________, 2018.
