A Thursday evening traffic stop led to the arrests of two Hope residents on drug related charges.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., Columbus Police Officer Ivan Shultz observed a truck with a heavily damaged license plate. Shultz stopped the vehicle near Marr Road and Jolinda Drive and made contact with the driver Madeline C. McNicholas, 32, of Hope and her passenger Carl R. McNicholas, 33, of Hope.
During the course of the traffic stop, a police canine was requested, and he alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. Officers later located methamphetamine, suboxone strips, as well as a digital scale containing methamphetamine residue.
Both Madeline and Carl were transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges:
Madeline McNicholas: Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Carl McNicholas: Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
