The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for our area starting tonight, May 3rd, and running through late Thursday night.
The weather service warns that a warm front and a strong low pressure system will bring rain again to central Indiana and it could be heavy at times. They estimate 2-3 inches of rain could hit the area.
Because the ground is still saturated from recent rains and additional heavy rainfall will likely result in flooding.
The affected area includes Bartholomew, Decatur and Shelby counties locally.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, which can be very dangerous. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
