On May 25, approx. 12:21 a.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff's Deputy Dane Duke responded to a welfare check call in the 700 block of Jonesville Road.
On arrival, Deputy Duke observed Shawn Scott Sanford, 40, 171 Schaefer Drive, Hope, IN who appeared to be sleeping in his vehicle. While checking Sanford's information, Deputy Duke was alerted that Sanford was wanted on an out-of-county arrest warrant and he was taken into custody without incident.
Deputy Duke found several syringes and a digital scale in Sanford's vehicle. A plastic bag with a crystal substance, believed to be methamphetamine, and a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana, were found on Sanford's person.
Sanford remains in the Bartholomew County Jail without bond on preliminary charges of:
Possession of methamphetamine,
Possession of a legend drug injection device,
Trafficking with an inmate,
Possession of marijuana,
Possession of paraphernalia, and
Warrant issued through Jennings County
All persons are considered innocent unless/until proven guilty in a court of law.
