The Town Square of Hope is decorated and ready for Saturday's Relay for Life.
Saturday's event runs from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. says organizer Jonna Shepherd.
This year's Relay for Life of Hope is taking on a Dr. Seuss theme with the slogan "A hope is a HOPE, no matter how small." Which means lots of Seuss-themed decorations around the square.
Among the businesses participating in the Town Square decorations have been the Hope Town Hall, Gold Nugget Pawn, WiLLow LeaVes of Hope, Reflections Hair Salon, the Bartholomew County Public Library Hope branch, Deckard's Tool & Engineering, Sweet Chiropractic, the Yellow Trail Museum, Spurling and Associates.
Judging was done last week by Adam Schill from Big Top Productions and Will Wagner from Wagner Realty. The winners will be announced after 10 a.m. Saturday.
"I still don't know who won!" Shepherd said.
Shepherd said the opening ceremony at 9 a.m. would include the performance of the National Anthem by Chloe Kennedy, a speech by cancer survivor Sarah Carter and a caregiver speech by Brandy Walters, from the Golden Girls team.
Shepherd said there is still a need for volunteers to help with Saturday's event and for others to come out to listen to music, eat and support the cause.
"It is a time to celebrate those who are cancer survivors," Shepherd said. "It is a time to remember those we lost to cancer. And it is also time to recommit ourselves to fighting back against this terrible disease."
