Mark your calendars for this year's Old Fashioned Independence Day Celebration to be held on Friday, June 30th, beginning at 5 p.m., on the Hope Town Square.
Once again this year, we will offer lots of free family fun as we have crafts, games, contests, old fashioned toys, watermelon seed spitting and watermelon eating contests throughout the evening.
The Bannister Family Band will be back starting their fine performance at 7:30 p.m. that evening, and you can't miss the fabulous fireworks at dark. This year we will once again have the Hartsville Fire Department offering fish sandwiches. The Baptist Church will offer hot dogs, coney dogs, chips, a cookie and a drink for a $5 meal.
The annual kids' bike/trike/stroller/wagon parade will start lining up at 5:15 p.m. at the pump house on the north side of the square and prepare for their annual lap of the town square with their highly decorated "vehicles."
The annual apple-pie baking contest will begin at 6 p.m. New this year will be the "Little Miss Sparkler and Mr. Firecracker" contest. And we can't miss Miller's Merry Manor's cake walk in the shelter house.
The Yellow Trail Museum will be open most of the evening and will offer ice cream floats for $1. Don't miss the pony rides, or a close look at the fire truck. And we will be having the Balloon Man here this year.
This means a great evening for all, so don't miss it.
Forms for the pie baking contest, the Bike parade, and the Little Miss Sparkler and Mr. Firecracker contest are included below. Those forms can also be picked up at the Yellow Trail Museum, Willow Leaves, or the Hope Branch Library.
