Legal Aid is announcing upcoming free legal clinics for Bartholomew County residents.

There will be a clinics on April 22nd and May 20th from 3 to 5 p.m. at the agency's offices in the United Way Center 1530 13th Street in Columbus. 

The clinic uses local volunteer attorneys, offering free legal consultations to low-income individuals for the provision of legal advice and assistance in furtherance of equal access to justice within our community whom might not otherwise be able to afford the counsel of an attorney.

Individuals coming to the Legal Aid Clinic can expect to receive a 10 minute consultation to answer general questions, offer legal information, or to receive other limited pro se assistance or advice, in person, on a first come, first serve basis. There is no need to register in advance.

Free clinics for low-income residents are held each month in Bartholomew County.

Legal Aid is also offering additional clinics throughout Pro Bono District I on a rotating basis. Upcoming clinics include:

BROWN COUNTY: 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 4,  Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane, Nashville

DECATUR COUNTY:  3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, Decatur County Public Library, 1110 E. Main Street, Greensburg

JENNINGS COUNTY: 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 Jennings County Public Library, 2375 N. State Hwy 3, North Vernon

In addition, the Johnson County Bar Association also holds a Free Legal Clinic for low income residents the second Wednesday each month from 4 to   6:30 p.m. at the Law Resource Center, 170 N. Jackson St, Franklin, IN. Their upcoming clinic is , Wednesday, May 8.
