The sermon series for December, "Calm and Bright," will continue on Sunday at the 9 a.m. worship service at Petersville United Methodist Church when the Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry gives the message "Joy."

Scriptures from Psalm 86:9-11; Luke 2:8-20 will be read by liturgist Patsy Harris, and the Advent candle will be lit. The children will be singing/signing a verse each Sunday of the song, "Do You See What I See," and the adult choir will share special music. Teresa Covert will present the children's story.

Loose coins received during December will go to the Bishop's Children's Christmas Fund. A time of fellowship will follow the service.

The study of "The Gift of the Nutcracker" will take place each Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall through December 23 and will be led by Rev. Scherer-Berry; books will be available at church.

Bible Study classes will meet on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m.; Baker's Dozen will meet at the home of Larry and Connie Nolting and Journey will meet at the home of Chris Kimerling. Sit-n-Stitch group will meet Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., also at the Nolting home. Choir practice is held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, and Prayer Group will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday with Barb Hedrick as leader.
