The Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry will bring the message, "Elevated," at the 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at the Petersville United Methodist Church.

She will be focusing on the Transfiguration of Jesus, told in Luke 9:8:28-36; the scriptures will be shared by the liturgist. The choir will provide special music, and Teresa Covert will give the children's sermon. Holy Communion will be served by the pastor and the lay leader, Joe Bush. A time of Fellowship will follow the service, and the class using the study book, "Shaped by God's Heart," will convene at 10:30 a.m. and will be led by the pastor.

The United Methodist Men's group will meet at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday morning in the fellowship hall.

The Mountain Mission Truck will be picking up at the church annex on Tuesday March 5; items should be brought to the church by Sunday March 3.

The Baker's Dozen study group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the home of Larry and Connie Nolting; the Journey study class also meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Chris Kimerling home. New members are always welcome to both classes. The Sit and Stitch group will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., also at the Nolting home. Choir practice is each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., and the Prayer group,led by Barb Hedrick, meets each Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church.

Upcoming: "Fat Tuesday" will be marked at the Petersville church on March 5 with a breakfast-type supper being served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The menu will include biscuits and Bush's sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, pancakes, fruit, sweet rolls, coffee cake and fruit breads. The cost will be $7, with children 5 years and younger eating free. The proceeds from this event will support the Rev. Scherer-Berry's mission trip to Uganda, and it will fulfill her 3 year commitment to this project. Information:812-447-9357, 574-780-2379.

An Ash Wednesday service will be held at the church on March 6 at 7 p.m. The Rev. Scherer-Berry's topic will be "Busy" and centering on the thought of "What does it cost to be so busy?"

March 10th will be MISSION EMPHASIS Sunday at Petersville during the 9 a.m. worship service. Faith Promise pledges will be collected at the end of the service. Some of the Faith Promise missions supported by the church include: Local - Clay Township Fire Dept., Love Chapel; National --United Methodist Committee on Relief, Henderson KY Settlement; International - Africa University, Feed My Starving Children.
