The Back From The Past Committee is excited about the return of the Hauser Pedal Jet on Saturday, Jan. 30th when Hauser will be hosting Batesville.

It will make its first appearance at the beginning of the Homecoming Ceremony and then lead the Jets out on the court for warm-ups.  Mike Asher, game announcer, will add his voice to this special occasion.  Admission is limited to 400 people due to coronavirus guidelines; however, the jet will continue its flight into the future.

It was 1957 when the Hauser Pedal Jet first made its debut.  Don Fisher was the coach and his son, Terry, was the first to fly it into the old Hope gym when he was around five.  For the reentry of the pedal jet in 2021, the pilot will be Hope Elementary kindergarten student Cole Miller, son of Chad and Nicole Miller.  It will be interesting where this experience will take Cole because Terry Fisher later became a pilot for the United States Air Force and for American Airlines.

The vintage pedal jet was purchased from Mike and Dena Hasler, Hauser enthusiasts.  It was disassembled, painted, and reassembled with new wheels and tires.  Pat Walters led the effort with Mike Asher assisting.  Jenny Wallace redid the seat to make sure young pilots will be comfortable.  New logos, donated by Adora Paetzel of Special by Design, were added.  In the future, there will be other improvements to the jet and possibly another one purchased.

Gym banners for Clifford Panthers, Hope Red Devils, and Hauser Jets are being designed by Ryan Sneed.  The committee would very much like to find the official Red Devil logo and is hoping someone can be of help.  A display case of Clifford, Hope, and Hauser memorabilia will eventually be located just outside the gym.  Please notify the committee if you have something you would like to be placed in the case.

The Back From The Past Committee, with full support of Tyler Phillips, Hauser's Athletic Director, was formed in the Summer of 2020 with the goal of sharing the history and roots of Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corporation with all who enter our wonderful facility.
