A Hope motorcyclist was flown to an Indianapolis hospital after a crash on County Road 450N Tuesday evening. 

The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department reports that deputies responded to the area of 450 North and Talley Road in reference to a traffic accident with injury at about 9:16 p.m. on July 24th.. 

A 1998 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Roy Wasson, 30, of Hope, was traveling east on County Road 450N when a 2017 Dodge Journey driven by James Meil, 66 of Cleveland Heights Ohio, failed to yield and turned south on Talley Road in his right of way. Wasson was unable to avoid a collision with the Dodge and struck it on the passenger side. Meil slid off the north side of the roadway.

Wasson was conscious and alert with deputies arrived. Wasson was transported to Indianapolis by helicopter for a leg and hand injury. Wasson was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Meil and the passenger of the Dodge were uninjured. Meil told deputies that he did not see the motorcycle prior to the collision.

Assisting at the scene were Sgt. Justin Arnholt and Deputy Andrew Dougan from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Regional Hospital EMS, Clifford Fire Department and Lifeline.
