Two long-time Hauser athletic leaders were recognized as the 2019 grand marshals of the Hope Heritage Days parade, Sunday afternoon.

The 2019 edition of Hope Heritage Days wrapped up Sunday after a three day celebration of the town's history, and support for the not-for-profit groups that work toward bettering the community.

Michael Dean, CEO of Heritage of Hope, has said that the annual festival brings in as much as $200,000 for the local not-for-profit scene, through the food booths on the Hope Town Square.

Sunday afternoon, Dean read the proclamation declaring Dave Irvine and Bob Miller as grand marshals of the 2019 parade. Miller could not be present, and Irvine was the only one to be presented a framed version of a letter reading:

"On behalf of the Board of Directors of Heritage of Hope, Inc., it is my distinct privilege to announce that you have been selected to be Grand Marshal of the 2019 Hope Heritage Days Parade on Sunday, September 29, 2019.

As grand marshal you will lead the parade and be escorted to the reviewing stand area where you will watch the remainder of the parade and select the Grand Marshal’s Choice entry.

You now join a list of esteemed past Grand Marshals who share with you a proven commitment to the Hope area community, a history of personal achievement, an unshakable devotion to your God and family, and a reputation of high moral character.

During your distinguished and honored life of service and loyalty to the Hope area community and through your leadership as a teacher, coach, announcer, and Athletic Director at Hauser Jr/Sr High School, you have left a proud legacy for current and future Jets to follow. As your family, friends and countless colleagues over the years will attest, you have provided a steady, humble example of conveying our belief that there is “no better place to work and live than in Hope, Indiana”.

You have lived your life as a wonderful example to others and have made it possible for future generations in our corner of Bartholomew County to enjoy a richer, more fulfilling life.

These examples are just a portion of the many reasons why you were chosen for this prestigious honor, and I am grateful for the opportunity to name you Grand Marshal for 2018."

Miller's proclamation, which was not read Sunday, was provided by Dean to HSJ Online:
