The Main Street of Hope board and volunteers have announced that Matt Lee will be taking over as executive director effective June 1st.

He will be taking over from Susan Thayer Fye who has held that position just over four years.

Matt graduated from Hauser Jr. - Sr. High School in 1995. Matt currently is CEO of the Night Owl Country Band, a well-known local band formed from the Hope area. Matt plays in the band, does promotion for the band for a wide variety of events and venues, and is used to working with budgets and scheduling. He also is a CNC programmer for Christopher Stephens Corp. And he loves the Surprising Little Town of Hope.

Main Street of Hope is a not-for-profit group under the umbrella of Heritage of Hope, and is an accredited member of the Indiana Main Street organization, organized through Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch's office. Main Street organizations encourage community-driven revitalization of downtown areas in Indiana cities and towns. The goal is to assist in encouraging reinvestment, creating jobs, and fostering pride of place. This can include storytelling, preserving historic structures, civic engagement, and marketing.

Main Street of HOPE recently collaborated with the town to complete the Hope Town Square Project which included the addition of 43 new LED, historic streetlights in and around the square. The project also involved the addition of extensive ADA pathways inside the square plus new benches, trash cans, planters, wayfaring signage, and artistic Historic District signs on State Road 9.

Funding for this large project was provided by the Indiana Main Street organization, The Heritage Fund – The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County, The Custer and Nugent Foundations, Columbus Visitors Center, and the Hope Town Council through EDIT Funds. In-kind service donations for this project were received from Joe Dodd, a Hauser grad and landscape architect currently living and working in San Diego; Rhett Whittington, a Hauser grad and local artist living in Hope; and Strand Associates Inc. from Columbus.
