Last Friday's movie night on the Hope Town Square raised more than $3,800 to help students in Flat Rock-Hawcreek schools.

The Student's Fund of Hope showed the movie "Moana" and offered food and activities, for free, on the square, asking only for free-will donations. Donors raised $3,806 according to Whitney Budd. All of the materials, supplies and other materials were provide free by community members, including  food, materials for the activities, movie license, event insurance, bounce house, petting zoo, and tinkergarten.

Budd said that all of the proceeds from the event are going towards some students and families who are facing recent tragedies. The proceeds will be split between the Frazee family and the Newcomb family, Budd said.

Trevor Frazee died on Aug. 23rd after a cardiac arrest. Funds from the movie night will go toward a headstone for Trevor.

Erin Newcomb, 17, remains hospitalized after an Aug. 29th crash in front of Hauser High School.  The Student's Fund of Hope will be providing the Newcomb family with gas cards and food gift cards.

The Student's Fund of Hope will next be baking 200 dozen cookies for the Hope Ride on Saturday, and will be entering a float in the Hope Heritage Days Parade.
