Belva Mae Lawson, 84, of Columbus, died Monday April 30, 2018 at Franklin Masonic Home in Franklin, Indiana.

After graduating in 1952 from St. Paul High School, where she was a baton twirler in the marching band, Belva owned and operated Belva’s Beauty Shop in Columbus. She retired in 2012 from Target in Columbus.

She enjoyed gardening, her Dobermans, and traveling.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at White River Valley Cemetery in Medora.

Memorial contributions may be donated to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born February 21, 1934, in St. Omer, Indiana, Belva was the daughter of Walter and Vernie (Vankirk) Harcourt. She married Max Lawson January 29, 1965, at First Christian Church in Columbus. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2011.

Survivors include a son, Michael (Kay) Lawson of Florida; daughters, Treva (Dave) Lambert of Columbus, Regina (Greg) Hamm of Tuscumbia, Alabama and Katrina Ross (Casey Spears) of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Shawn (Arley) Arnold, Jason Arnold, Amanda (Wane) Rogers, Joshua Ross (Breanna Dorsett), Joey Ross, Brittany (Dewey) Barrett and Hayley Ping (Nick Hubbard); 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Rudolph “Rudy” Harcourt; and sisters, Lena Fay Scudder and Mary Ellen Harcourt.
