Roger Dale “Dodger” Moore, 65, of St. Louis Crossing left this world on May 5, 2022 at Willow Crossing Health Care Facility.
Roger was born on September 28, 1956 in Columbus, Indiana and was the oldest son of Robert Lee Moore and Betty Marie (Beeker) Moore. He lived a full and active life due to the loving support of his mother and family.
He attended Blue River Special Education in Shelbyville, IN and was an employee of Developmental Services (DSI).
Roger participated in the Special Olympics in track and bowling. He was a member of St. Louis Crossing Baptist Church. He loved country music (especially Johnny Paycheck’s “Take This Job and Shove It” and anything sung by Johnny Cash). Roger was an animal lover. After taking early retirement due to health reasons, Roger enjoyed the time spent with friends at the Just Friends Day Adult Services at Mill Race Center. He also enjoyed traveling and camping around the U.S. with his sister Pat and her family.
Roger is survived by his mother, Betty Moore and sister Patricia (John) Watson, brother Charlie Bob (Carol Jenkins) Moore, sister Carol (Paul) Ashbrook, and brother Scott (Lisa) Moore. Also surviving are his maternal aunts, Bonnie Rigsby and Barbara Schnadinger, nieces Kristen (Paul) Suits, Amanda (Kyle) Land, Abbey Ashbrook, Annie Ashbrook, and nephews Bryan Watson and Tyler Moore and great nieces: Zoey Seal, Sarah Beth and Matilda Suits, and great nephews Trenton Land and James Suits.
Roger also leaves behind his best friend, Robert Miller, special friend, Diane Daulton and cousin Randy Shireman who all made special efforts to make the last few years of his life tolerable with their attention.
A funeral for Roger will be Wednesday May 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Sharp officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Robert Moore, numerous Aunts and Uncles and a niece, Stacey Marie Watson.
Memorial donations are suggested to be made to: Just Friends Adult Day Services at 900 Lindsey Street, Columbus, IN 47201.
Online condolences may be sent to Roger’s family at www.normanfuneralhome.net.
