Press release

A Hope man was arrested last week after allegedly crashing a stolen truck.

Bartholomew County deputies were called to 25th Street and County Road 500E at just before 10:15 a.m. Thursday on a report of a truck that had run off the road and crashed into a tree. Deputies were told that the driver had then run away.

A resident called dispatchers and reported that a suspicious subject was in their yard. When deputies approached the man, he allegedly ran away again before being caught a short time later, according to police reports.

The man, identified as Brian R. Sosbe, of Hope, was found to have an outstanding parole warrant and was also a habitual traffic violator. Deputies also found that the truck had been reported stolen.

Sosbe was taken first to Columbus Regional Hospital and then to jail on preliminary charges of:

  • Leaving the scene of an accident

  • Possession of methamphetamine

  • Possession of paraphernalia

  • Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated

  • Auto theft

As of Friday he was still being held without bond in the Bartholomew County Jail.[[In-content Ad]]
