Petersville United Methodist Church news for Aug. 9th

Larry Nolting will serve as liturgist and will share scriptures 1st Kings 19:9-18 and Romans 10:5-15. Teresa Covert will give the children's sermon.
On Sunday evening, a joint choir made up of members from Petersville, Newbern, Hartsville and Westport United Methodist Churches will present a musical program at the Newbern church at 5:30 p.m. Choir members are asked to arrive at 4 p.m. for rehearsal and a light supper. Following the program, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshment for all in attendance.
The Walking group will meet at 9 a.m. Monday and Wednesday at the church. The choir, under the direction of Kathy Bush, will resume weekly rehearsals at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday at the church. Prayer group meets at 10 a.m. on Thursday with Barb Hedrick as leader. On Thursday August 17, the United Methodist Women's group will meet at 6 p.m. at the home of Patsy Harris; Chris Kimerling will conduct the business meeting and Kathy Bush will present the program. On Sunday August 27, Kirk Freeman, coach for the Petersville Fruitful Congregation Journey team, will deliver the morning message. Brunch will be served following the service.
Upcoming: "Worship on the Lawn" will take place on Sunday Sept. 10 at the church with the service beginning at 10 a.m. A pitch-in lunch, tailgate style, will be available for all .
The United Methodist Men's group will sponsor their annual "Ice Cream Social" on Sunday evening Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. at the church; they will provide roast hot dogs, drinks, and ice cream, and those attending are invited to bring side dishes and desserts. Special guests will include the Clay Township Fire Dept. and their families.
