Petersville United Methodist Church news for Dec. 8th

The Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry, pastor at Petersville United Methodist Church, 2781 N 500 E, will bring the message, "Joy," on Sunday morning at the 9 a.m. worship service.

Scripture from Isaiah 12 will be shared by the worship leader Patsy Harris. The morning will be filled with activities using the theme "Christmas for Children." Pastor Scherer-Berry and her helpers Larry Nolting and Joe Bush will give the children's sermon, and then children are invited to the fellowship hall and will enjoy crafts, games, and refreshments - Teresa Covert will be in charge. Following the service and fellowship, Sunday School will begin at 10:30 a.m.

On Sunday afternoon, the Scherer-Berry family will host an Open House at the parsonage from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday night Bible studies will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Kimerling and Nolting homes. Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., Connie Nolting (812-372-2453) will host the Sit and Stitch group. The Walkers group meets at 9 a.m. Monday and Wednesday at Fair Oaks Mall. Choir practice will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday under the direction of Kathy Bush. The Prayer group meets at 10 a.m. each Thursday at the church with Barb Hedrick as leader.

Don Jackson (812-546-4065) is coordinating volunteers for projects at Clifty Creek Elementary School, including delivering food packs to classrooms on Friday at 9 a.m.

The Petersville Christmas Eve service will be at 6:30 p.m. on December 24.

A joint choir of Petersville and Newbern UMC members will present a cantata at both churches on Sunday morning December 27.
