Arts and Antiques Fair takes over Town Square Sunday

With the hope of clear skies on Sunday, the annual Arts and Antiques Fair continues to add vendors, says organizer Lisa Swank.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Town Square.

Swank said the intent of the show is to have professional artists and antique dealers offering their items for sale. She said there are about 20 vendors signed up now, with more still being added as the weather forecast firms up.

"It might be basket-weaving, it might be painters, photographers," Swank said. "There is barn art. There are... really nice antiques."

Swank said this is her last year working on the event, as she is leaving the board of the Chamber of Commerce. But she felt it is an important event to continue.

"The first time I drove into Hope, that square just lit up my imagination on what this town could do," she said. "There is just something about the old-town feel of that area... It draws people from all over to the town. The businesses are better off because it draws people from all over."

She said the fair has developed a reputation for quality, from the vendors and from the attendees looking to make purchases. She said she heard last year from people coming from as far as Cincinnati to take part in the event.

"It is a good, social thing and it is good for the community," she said.[[In-content Ad]]
