Bartholomew County FFA Alumni Association forms
By From Don Barriger-
On Feb. 16, an organizational meeting was held at the Bartholomew County 4H Fairgrounds. This was well-attended by a small group of enthusiastic and committed former and current FFA'ers and FFA supporters. It was unanimously agreed that the Association should be formed and so began the process for obtaining a local charter from the National FFA Alumni Association.
The association elected its first slate of officers, approved a constitution and bylaws, and agreed on a $20 fee for annual membership dues. The association's primary mission will be to promote and support agricultural education and to assist the local FFA Chapters in Columbus and Hope. As it grows, it will aim to conduct fundraising events with a view to being able to provide financial support and scholarships to our local Vocational Agriculture students and the two County Chapters.
Regular meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month, in the Family Arts Building at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds.
Anyone interested in FFA and the promotion of its goals is welcome to join. There is no need to have been actively involved with FFA in the past; if you are interested in the future of agriculture and want to help our local vocational agriculture students and their chapter advisors, you are eligible!

The association also thanked the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair Board for supporting this initiative.[[In-content Ad]]
