Be sheriff for a day by donating to food pantries
By Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department-
The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office will offer a special day for the person donating the most items to BCSO's Third Annual "Pack-a-Patrol Car" food drive.
Imagine being "Sheriff for a Day" while helping less fortunate friends and neighbors. Donate the most non-perishable food or personal hygiene items and you could get a peek into a "Day in the Life of Sheriff Matthew A. Myers".
The Honorary Sheriff will begin his/her day at 8:am shadowing Sheriff Myers as they complete the Sheriff's duties for a day. They will tour the jail, be introduced to staff, have lunch and attend meetings as scheduled.
"I think anything we can do to help those who are less fortunate in Bartholomew County and to get people more familiar with law enforcement so they view us as their friend, is helpful", said Sheriff Myers.
All decisions regarding "Sheriff for a Day" will be made by Tammy Johnson, BCSO's "Pack-a-Patrol Car" coordinator. All decisions are final. There is no age restriction. You need not reside in Bartholomew County to participate. BCSO employees are not eligible. Winner should be of good moral character. Only one winner will be determined.
Items may be dropped off 24/7 in the lobby of BCJ through November 14 but those wanting their donations tracked for the "Sheriff for a Day" contest must check-in at the Front Desk M-F 8am - 5pm. Ms. Johnson will track all donated items and will provide updates (through 5 p.m. on Nov. 13th). The final day to drop off items is Nov. 14th at 5 p.m.
If you prefer to make a financial contribution, drop it off or mail it to: Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office, 543 Second Street, Columbus, IN 47201-6713. Be sure to mark it "Pack-a-Patrol Car."
Each $1 will count as 2 canned food items.
Donated items will be delivered to Love Chapel's Food Pantry at 311 Center St. and the Salvation Army at 2525 Illinois Ave., Columbus.[[In-content Ad]]
