Busy season begins for Yellow Trail Museum
On Nov. 10, we will host an Open House to show off our renovation of what was once the offices of Greg Spurling and Associates. That area now houses the Clouse Wagon and other displays after an extensive renovation during the past seven months.
We now have the old tin ceiling tiles showing, the original hardwood floors have been restored, there is a new heating and air conditioning unit, new lights, freshly spackled and painted walls, and the archway that connected the old Yellow Trail building with this new area has been opened up again. On Nov. 10th, we invite the public to join us as we thank the Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County for their generous grant that allowed us to do all this renovation. Hours that evening are 6 to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Then on November 11, we will host the annual Veterans Day Luncheon, which provides a free lunch to all area veterans and their guests. This will take place at the Yellow Trail Museum with serving beginning at 10:30 a.m. and running until about 12:30 p.m. or whenever the food runs out!
Any veteran who would like to make a short recording of his/her military service, should let one of the hostesses know that day.
And one week later, on Nov. 18, the entire town will welcome everyone to "Christmas of Yesteryear." That evening, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Hope will begin its Christmas Season as lights in the square will be lit, shops will be open late, a Live nativity will take place in the square throughout the evening, there will be strolling carolers and Santa will arrive. The Yellow Trail will offer a huge bake sale and cookie decorating, and there will be carriage rides into Hope's past as guests meet costumed characters from the past. This year those rides will be $2 per person and with more carriages, we hope to get a new wagon out every 10 minutes leaving from Norman's Cabin. Don't miss this great evening in Hope.
And finally on Friday, Dec. 2, the Yellow Trail Museum will host its annual Christmas Homes Tour. For a $10 ticket you will be going on a self-guided tour of 5 homes all beautifully decorated for Christmas and at least one business. Tickets that evening will be available at the Yellow Trail Museum beginning at 5:30 p.m., but the tour hours are actually 6 to 9 p.m.
Yellow Trail Museum will be offering refreshments for all tour-goers, so that is a great place to meet your friends to do this tour as a group.
