Dan A. Moore, 83, of Columbus
Dan was born May 15th, 1931, in Decatur County to Alfred C. Moore and Augusta M. Woods Moore. He married Donna C. Titus on Nov. 1st, 1952 and she survives.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years; daughters, Donita (Mike) Compton, Danette (Darrell) Brewer and Dawn Rae Ayers (Terry Hacker), all of Columbus; granddaughter Sasha (Steve) O'Doyle, great-grandchildren, Mar O'Doyle and Delanie O'Doyle, all of Whiteland; a sister, Virginia (Pete) Gabbard of Columbus.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, children, Kathy Sue Moore and Dinty Lee Moore; brothers, Ernest Dee Moore, Robert Moore and Charles Moore; and grandson, Denny Tedder.
He was a member of Rugby United Brethren. He served in the Korean War; retired after 42 years at Arvin Industries and was Reserve Deputy in Hope for 6 years. Dan was known as "Uncle Dan" to many and enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Denny, and nephew, Rick Titus. Many hours were spent at "Chicken Creek Ranch", Possum Glory, and Anderson Falls with family and friends. He also enjoyed riding his scooter and long road trips cruising slowly through the country. Dan loved tinkering in his workshop and enjoyed building anything.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 28th, at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Jonathon Titus officiating. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. and 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery, 6240 E. 450 N. Full military rites will be presented by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Norman Funeral Home to defray funeral expenses.[[In-content Ad]]
