Deadline nears for Hope-area election filings

The deadline is approaching to file for this year's elections in Hope and Bartholomew County.

Three seats on the Hope Town Council, as well as the Hope Clerk-Treasurer's office are up for election this year.

As of Wednesday, Ed Johnson had filed to run as a Democrat in the Ward 1 seat on the council and Ohmer Miller had filed to run as a Republican for the Ward 3 seat.

In election filings for countywide races:

Republicans Kelly Benjamin and Scott Andrews for Bartholomew Circuit Court judge.

Republicans Clayton Nolting and Ron Shadley and Democrat Paula Rothrock for county coroner.

Republican E.R. Gray for county surveyor.

Republicans Jorge Morales, Susan Thayer Fye and Larry Kleinhenz for County Commissioner in District 1.

Republican Rick Flohr and Democrat Brad Woodcock for County Commissioner in District 3.

Republicans Bill Lentz, Evelyn Pence, Jim Reed and Matt Miller and Democrat Pam Clark for County Council at-large.

Republican Rex Dora and Democrat Jeremy Kimball for Hartsville Town Council.

The deadline to file to run for office is Friday, Feb. 5th at noon.
