Deputies receive new protective gear
By Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department-
Your Bartholomew County Sheriff's Deputies are a little safer today with new protective gear.
After receiving a grant in the amount of $45,000 from the 2016 State Homeland Security Grant Program, BCSO purchased ballistic helmets and bullet proof vests for all road deputies.
"Hopefully, we will never have to use them but actions across the country prompted us to provide stronger bullet-resistant gear to respond if/when needed", said BCSO Administrative Capt. Brandon Slate. "These new vests and helmets will provide much more protection for the men and woman who protect Bartholomew County."
Sheriff Matt Myers said it is his job to protect the public and the deputies.
"I am dedicated to enhance the safety of our deputies by providing the best equipment and training possible", Myers said. "I want every deputy to return safely home after each and every shift."[[In-content Ad]]
