Deputies seek help in church vandalism

On July 8, 2017, at approximately 2:19 p.m., the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the caretaker of the Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church, 111275 W. County Road 525S, who said that she discovered the church severely vandalized and at least one room set on fire.
The investigation revealed that forced entry was made into the church and the majority of the windows were broken out. Many items were destroyed throughout the church.
There was also at least one attempt to set the building ablaze. A basement room was intentionally set on fire and extinguished itself before discovery was made.
The Sheriff's Office is requesting help from the public for anyone that has any information or was in the area the night of night July 7th or morning on July 8, 2017.
