Donald Lee "Curly" West, 75 of Hope


Donald Lee "Curly" West, 75 of Hope died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at his home.

He had been a truck driver for Roberts, Meshberger and retired in 2004 from Heritage Transport.

He was a member of Chapel of the Good Shepherd Church and a former Moose Lodge member.

The funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 15th at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Bill Tennyson officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery, west of Clifford.

Memorial contributions may be donated to Gideons International Bibles or Alhzheimer's Association through the funeral home.

Born March 29, 1939 in Brown County, Donald was the son of Glenn and Ruth Elizabeth "Betty" Coons West. He married Bettie Mitchner August 30, 1958 and she survives.

Other survivors include,daughters, Rhonda Brown of Hope and Melinda (Brad) Shepherd of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Chris (Kathy) Pool of Columbus, Tamara (Ben) Jones of Elizabethtown, Deana (Chad) Thomas of North Vernon, Keiona Lee of Greenwood, Cory Davis of North Vernon and Hunter Shepherd of Taylorsville; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Frank(Norma) West of The Villiages, Fl. and a sister, Susie (Bob) Roberts of Brown County.

Donald loved all kinds of racing and was an avid Dale Earnhart and Junior fan. He loved baseball and football, especially the Colts.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Brenda Smith; a granddaughter, Karina Pool and great grandchildren, Emma and Evan Phares.[[In-content Ad]]
