Duck Ponderings: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof performance excels

My wife asked if I wanted to attend "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" dinner theatre with her at WILLow LeaVes. I was hesitant due to fasting and having to deny myself the great food always served there. However, we had just watched the movie, and I was wondering how the play would be different. Besides, we both knew several cast members. So, I chose to meet her late to avoid the temptation of the oven fried chicken and the always wonderfully prepared mashed potatoes. I certainly had no regrets afterward other than missing out on the dinner.

There are not enough adjectives to describe the great acting by the adults and the children. Being a part of several plays myself, I kept on thinking about the hours spent at home and on the stage in preparing for the production in regard to the lines, actions, tech, and set. There were scenes which the monologue went on for a long time, but the gifted cast members still captured the attention of the audience while showcasing their talents. Each actor and actress made you feel as if there were no stage, that you were within the plantation mansion, which is the highest of compliments!

There is much adult and family drama with challenging subject matter and some strong language. There are also moments you will laugh, several involving the antics of the children. Even though there is no intermission, you really don't want a break. You find yourself caught up in the story.

After it ends in two hours, you will want to applaud the performance.

It is not too late to attend with tickets available for Friday, Nov. 11, Saturday, Nov. 12, or Sunday, Nov. 13. For reservations, call 812-546-0640.

You might want to arrive a little early to look around WILLow LeaVes at their items throughout the store. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and they have already decorated for Christmas with Christmas of Yesteryear quickly approaching.[[In-content Ad]]
