Duck Ponderings: Concert shows community cooperation
Sally Webster, well known in the Hope area, will open the evening with Christmas songs. A light dinner will be served at 6:30 with Danika and Jeb starting around 7:30. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Please call 812-546-0640 for reservations. You may want to come early to look around the store at a variety of merchandise.
It all started materializing when Nancy Banta, music teacher at Hope Elementary, got in contact with Danika due to interest in her songs. Nancy thought others would appreciate the opportunity to hear the music of Danika and Jeb, and WILLow LeaVes and the Town of Hope combined efforts to get them here.
Several fifth graders from the homerooms of Mrs. Boilanger, Miss Thayer, and Mrs. Wamsley will have the experience of a lifetime to join Danika and Jeb on stage for singing "Lucky For Me." Based on a DVD of a practice session I viewed of some fifth graders singing the song, there will be lots of smiles to go with their wonderful voices.
It is not the first time for Nancy to invite others to Hope to share their creative efforts; it is not the first time for WILLow LeaVes to provide a venue; and, it certainly is not the first time for the Town of Hope to support a worthy cause.
Once again, it proves what can happen when people work together, and it gives me one more reason to be proud to share with others that I am from Hope, Indiana. The Chorus in "Lucky For Me" sums my feelings as well as others in our small town:
ooo oooh
Lucky for me
This time of year gets me thinkin'
ooo oooh
Lucky for me
Cause I've got more than I could ever need
ooo
Lucky for me
