Financial aid application help available for Hauser students
The Bartholomew County Financial Literacy Coalition will be holding free help sessions assisting students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid in the Library/Media Center at Hauser High School from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 4th and Feb. 18th.
It is the time of year when anybody wanting to go to college next year needs to complete the FAFSA, the single application form necessary for students to receive federal, state, and institutional financial aid. The deadline for completing FAFSA in Indiana is March 10 however, some colleges have a March 1 deadline so check with your college financial aid office to be sure of their deadline.
The FAFSA is completed online at www.fafsa.gov. Each parent and student will need a PIN available from www.pin.ed.gov. to sign and submit the FAFSA.
If parents and students will bring their personal information, including Social Security Numbers and tax information, a financial aid expert will be available to answer questions you may have while completing the FAFSA. Parents and students will be able to use the computers in the Hauser LMC to log into the FAFSA site and complete all the information necessary for applying for financial aid for college or technical schools. Even if parents do not have their 2014 tax information completed, you are encouraged to use your 2013 tax information to complete the FAFSA by the deadline. Students will have until May 15 to update the information with the 2014 tax information.
One more opportunity for completing the FAFSA with assistance will be College Goal Sunday on Feb. 22nd. The Columbus Learning Center will be open at 2 p.m. to assist people in completing the FAFSA in this statewide event.
