Gerald E. Mote, 79, formerly of Hope

Gerald E. Mote, 79 of Columbus, formerly of Hope, passed away Friday October 16, 2015 at Four Seasons Retirement Center.

He had retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1993.

He was a senior umpire and in umpires-in-chief State of Indiana from 1976 - 1986. He served in the Air Force Reserves from 1958 to 1963 and was in the Air Police.

He attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

He loved playing cards, was a huge Colts fan and loved spending time with his family.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Father Andy Syberg officiating.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. There will be a military graveside service conducted by the Bartholomew County Veteran's Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be donated to the Alzheimer's Association.

Born Dec. 6, 1935 in Decatur County, Gerald was the son of Carl Mote and Alice Hunter Mote Emerick. He married Ann Lee Dec. 14, 1968 and she preceded him in death June 18, 1998.

He is survived by his fiance', Martha Bell of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Alice and his wife Ann.[[In-content Ad]]
