There will be a meeting to organize the Bicentennial Torch Relay weekend activities for Hartsville at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 20th, at the Hartsville Fire Station.

Everyone is invited to help with this historic event that should make Hartsville and our neighboring towns proud.

The Hartsville community is thrilled to have the Bicentennial Torch Relay passing through town on Sunday, Sept. 18th at about 5 p.m. That weekend, September 17 & 18th, there will be a huge festival in the Hartsville town square and the fire station. This is to be a weekend of mostly free, family-centered activities and a time for all to learn and to celebrate the 200th anniversary of our state. The plan is to include musical entertainment, first person presentations, food, crafts and games for kids, a "Mini Torch Relay for kids, a walking tour presented by Hauser students, to name a few activities.

Organizers will only allow food booths or vendors from local organizations.

The committee working to organize this event also realizes that the bicentennial is a time to share our past. There will be booths with historical information and to to relate lots of information to the public about Hartsville and other small towns nearby. The organizing committee invites anyone who is interested in sharing a small piece of information with the public to plan to set up that weekend just for that purpose.
