Hauser baseball wins over North Decatur; splits doubleheader with Connersville


The Jets baseball team traveled to North Decatur on Thursday for their last conference game.

With two outs in the top of the fifth, the Jets exploded for nine runs to give them a 15-0 victory. The Jets hit four triples in the game and were led by seniors Rory Thayer, Brooks Bailey and freshman Sam meek who had 3 hits a piece. Sophomore Eric McMullen was the winning pitcher, pitching a complete game with 6 strike outs.

The Jets finish second in the conference with an 8-1 record.

In the first game of the double header Saturday against 4a Connersville, senior Rory Thayer shined in his last start on the mound at home.

Thayer pitched 6 innings striking out 6 to earn the victory. Thayer also led the Jets at the plate going 2-3. The Jets found themselves down 1-0 after the fourth inning but came back to take the lead in the sixth. Thayer led the inning off with a single and then proceeded to steal second.

Junior Will Rose singled to right center to drive Thayer in, tying the game. Sophomore Eric McMullen would later lay down a bunt single to 3rd advancing Rose to third, setting up a sac fly for senior Dalton McKinney to take the lead.

Senior Brooks Bailey came in the seventh inning to finish the game, earning his first save.

Connersville took game two from the Jets, 8-1. The Jets were led by Nathan Branum at the plate, going 2-3. After a single and stolen base by Eric McMullen, senior Dalton McKinney drove in the Jets only run in the second inning of the game.

The Jets are now 17-8 on the season. They faced Indianapolis Lutheran Monday, May 25th, for their last regular season game.
