Hauser Hoops for Feb. 20th
Unfortunately it has played havoc with the school days, and the basketball schedules. Hopefully things will calm down, warm up soon and we can continue.
Elementary Day
Saturday, the Hope Elementary boys teams will conclude their season as Hauser will play host once again, weather permitting. Hope has a split 5th-grade group (black & white), due to a large number of boys that wanted to play. The 6th also had a large number, but is a single team.
The single elimination tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with morning games in Hauser and Hope Elementary Gym. The 5th-grade teams will begin with each in separate gyms which means coaches Wally Miller and Levi Miller will split the coaching duties.
The 6th-grade boys, coached by Jason Pence, will play in the Hauser following the 5th-grade game. Winners of the morning games will play at Hauser in the championship -- 5th at 1 p.m. and the 6th to follow about 2:15 p.m. Edinburgh 5th and 6th, Waldron 5th and 6th, as well as Southwestern 6th will also be in the tournament.
We will have complete box scores from the tournament. Good Luck Jets!
Elementary Girls
The Hope Elementary girls teams always have an early season. Their season ended before we started HSJ Online, so I wanted to take the opportunity to recognize them. A huge thank you to Melinda Barriger for supplying much needed information. Melinda coached the 6th-grade girls and was very happy with how her team improved as the season progressed. She also coached them last season as 5th graders and said it was a blessing to coach such great girls.
Four of the girls names may look familiar, as they moved up to play for Hauser's 7th-grade team this year, which was low in numbers.
Team members were: Maylee Barriger, Zoee Artis, Hannah Johnson, Aunaka Wasil, Alexis Tallent, Danyelle Ogle, Amanda Bower, and Jazmyne Skirvin.
Amy Johnson coached the Hope 5th-grade girls team this year. 5th grade is always an interesting year, as many have not played serious organized basketball. Despite not having a great win/loss record, the girls measured their season by learning fundamentals and improving as individuals and as a team. According to their coach, they were a great group of young ladies and she was very thankful to have been able to coach them.
The 5th-grade team members were: Gabby Johns, Steph Meek, Annie Asher, Lillyah Jones, Anniston Riley, Lauren Klindt, Carly Beeker, Emilee Sessions, MacKenzie Saxe, Ellie Roberts, and Faith Talkington.
Be looking for these names in the future of Hauser girls basketball![[In-content Ad]]
