Hauser Hoops for Feb. 7th: Hauser Nation is #joshstrong
The car accident last Sunday night of Columbus North basketball player Josh Speidel has had not only an impact in Bartholomew County, but has spread all over the Hoosier Nation. The heartfelt love that has spread is just AWESOME! High schools all over Indiana have collected and raised money to help with medical bills for the Speidel family.
I have known Josh since he was in sixth grade. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to coach him in AAU / Travel Basketball. We never liked playing games against his teams, as they were the biggest challenges. Speidel broke North's all-time scoring record this year and was continuing to add to that record until the accident.
Many are continuing to monitor Dave and Lisa Speidel's Facebook updates. It was very cool seeing a video from the Indiana Pacers players for Josh, as well as former IU Coach and current ESPN commentator Dan Dakich helping raise money for Josh.
Our prayers to Josh and his entire family.
Hauser is #joshstrong
The Hauser varsity girls team added an extra game to their schedule. Columbus North's game with Jennings County was canceled due to JC having a snow day. This opened a spot in their schedule for the Lady Jets to play the host Lady Bulldogs Saturday at 12:30. All proceeds from the game will go to #joshstrong fund. The Lady Jets will be showing their support to Josh by wearing JOSHSTRONG shirts during warm ups.
Saturday night the Hauser JV & varsity boys teams will host Morristown in a Mid-Hoosier Conference showdown. The Hauser boys will be showing their support for Josh as well during warm-ups. They too will be wearing joshstrong shirts. No word if Morristown is doing the same. Yellowjackets Varsity coach Steve Todd coached at Columbus North prior to going to Morristown, so I wouldn't be surprised if they too show their support.
