Hauser Hoops: Shipley and Jets slam Eagles
It was his first rim rocker in a school basketball game (he has had a few in AAU.) Quindon, a Junior, was all smiles after the game for two reasons -- the dunk and the win. Q led the Jets in scoring as well with 19.
The Jets built a lead as much as 21 points over visiting Jac-Cen-Del, who came into the game with a nice record of 14-5. The Eagles rallied back and pulled within two late in the game, but good free throw shooting down the stretch gave Hauser a big win 83-77.
Hauser coach Bob Nobbe was upbeat about his teams win over a very tall and talented Eagles team.
Stepping into the coaches' office to congratulate coach Nobbe and JV coach Griff Roth, I mentioned great free throw shooting by Mason down the stretch. We all got a laugh because two different Masons hit some big free throws for both games Saturday afternoon.
Senior Mason Ramsey was 9 of 10 from the charity stripe in the varsity game. The other was Freshman Mason Sherman who was called up to help out at the guard position with Clayton Wilson and Jon Mote battling injuries. Sherman sank some big free throws in the 4th quarter and even led the JV in scoring with 13 points.
Hauser won the JV game 59-48.
The Jets seem to be peaking at the right time. If you have not gotten a chance to watch, there are only two regular season games remaining. Feb. 21st at Shelbyville, and Senior Night Tuesday, Feb. 24th.
Hauser is currently in 2nd place in the Mid-Hoosier Conference Standings. (See standings below scoreboard)
The IHSAA boys sectional pairings will be next Sunday at 4 p.m.
