Hauser to host Purdue sessions on family farms, applicators

According to the USDA, more than 70 percent of US farmland will change hands in the next 20 years. Transfer is particularly challenging for the small and medium-size farms that currently control over 80 percent of U.S agricultural land.
Purdue Extension offers resources to help farm families and businesses plan succession to the next generation and Marshall is the director of the Purdue Initiative for Family Farms. All are welcome, especially multiple family members or generations of a family.
Registration is free, but necessary. To register, contact the Purdue Extension Bartholomew County office by Nov. 20th at 812-379-1665.
For private and commercial pesticide applicators, as well as certified crop advisors, there will be a Crops Edition training held at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 28th, also at Hauser. Presenters will be Hans Schmitz on the U2U Split N tool for corn, Dr. Peter Goldsborough on GMO crops, and Trish Waller from the Office of the Indiana State Chemist on new Dicamba rules.
Continuing credits have been approved, and private applicators are asked to bring $10 to post their credit.
