Heritage Center to host show in honor of Larry Simpson

The spring art show for the Bartholomew County Historical Society and the Haw Creek Heritage Center will be held starting next week in honor of Larry Simpson, former owner and editor of the Hope Star-Journal.

Julie Hughes, executive director of the historical society, announced this week that the show will be entitled "Go Your Own Way," after one of Simpson's favorite Fleetwood Mac songs.

Simpson died last September on the last day of Hope Heritage Days. He was a long-time supporter of the arts in Hope.

The exhibition, which will run from April 24th through May 29th will show a range of work from artists working in 2D and 3D art as well as photography.

Cash prizes will be awarded to 2d, 3d and photography category winners.

An opening reception for the event will be Friday, April 24th from 5 to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and there will be art opportunities for the public.

Hand-delivered works should be taken to Haw Creek Heritage Center at 111 Aiken St. between now and Tuesday, April 21st. Hours for delivery are:

9 a.m. - 4 p.m. through Friday, April 17th

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18th

9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 21st
