Hope charities to compete for prize money

Make sure you're not so enamored with your food that you miss how the servers are dressed this year at Hope Heritage Days.

Heritage of Hope, which organizes the annual festival to be held Sept. 22-24 on the Hope town square, is offering $1,000 in prize money to the food vendor that dresses in a way that best represents the period between the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Its goal is to encourage participation in a 50-year-old event that prides itself on capturing the flavor of a bygone era.

"What nonprofit agency couldn't use an extra $1,000 for their budget?" asked Randy Simms, president of the festival and bandstand division.

He did not know how many of the 17 food vendors would participate.

Hope Heritage Days is the largest festival in Bartholomew County.[[In-content Ad]]
