Hope felon arrested with handgun

On February 3, 2017, at about 3:50 a.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff's Deputy Sergeant Kris Weisner was westbound on State Road 7 when he observed a southbound vehicle disregard a red traffic signal and proceed without stopping. While behind the vehicle, Sgt. Weisner also observed it crossing outside its driving lane before initiating a traffic stop.

Upon contact with the driver, identified as David D. Adams, 29, 9665 E 950 N, Hope, IN, Sgt. Weisner observed a plastic package containing syringe caps on Adams's person.

Deputy Brent Worman arrived to assist when K9 Bolt alerted on the vehicle. Deputies located digital scales and a handgun.

Mr. Adams was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of:

  • Felon in possession of a handgun and

  • Possession of an injection device.
