Hope man arrested in Columbus traffic stop

Columbus Police arrested a Hope man early Tuesday morning for driving a vehicle while intoxicated at nearly three times the legal limit.
Officer Josh McCrary was on patrol in the area of 25th Street and National Road at approximately 3:20 a.m. when he observed the driver of a vehicle fail to signal a lane change.
While speaking to the driver, Joseph M. Lewis, 37, McCrary detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. McCrary then conducted Standard Field Sobriety Testing on Lewis. Further investigation revealed that Lewis was driving his vehicle at .22% after he provided a breath sample.
Lewis was taken into custody and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail without incident where he was remanded to their custody on the following preliminary charge:
