Hope United Methodist Church news for Dec. 5th

By From Carol Gardner-

The Sunday of Peace, 2nd Sunday of Advent, we celebrated Holy Communion and lit the second candle.

The sermon was based on Romans 15:4-13 and Matthew 3:1-12, where John the Baptist preaches to prepare the people for meeting Jesus.

Thanks to Dale S. for leading a great worship service last Sunday.

Thanks to everyone who helped decorate the church.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Christ Giving Service.

Thanks for the wonderful variety of cookies in the Cookie Walk on Sunday. Proceeds will go to the United Methodist Women.

Our HUMC Christmas Party will be Saturday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. It will be held in the Fellowship Hall, with a catered meal costing $10 per person. There will be a white elephant gift exchange for those who want to participate.

A table in the narthex is available to exchange Christmas greetings with other members. Leave your cards above the family name. They will be distributed on Sunday, December 18, by the children. The Christmas cards for our shut-ins and/or our college youth will be delivered or sent on Monday, December 19.
