Hope United Methodist Church news for Nov. 27th
By From Carol Gardner-
The first Advent candle was lit by the Matthew Tobias family.
Pastor Warren's sermon was based on Romans 13:11-14, with the Gospel Lesson from Matthew 24:36-44. The Apostle Paul reminds us to stay alert for the coming of the Lord.
Those who could, stayed following worship to decorate the church for the season.
You can be a part of the Shoebox Ministry, which sends shoeboxes filled with gifts for needy children overseas. Each box costs $7. This ministry is under the direction of Susan, Brenda and Sherry.
Brenda is also asking for names and addresses of active military and missionaries for the Good News Club to send Christmas cards to these individuals.
Our Cookie Walk will take place next Sunday, December 4, following worship. Bring as many cookies as you can, then trade them for others. There will be a free-will offering to the United Methodist Women's organization.
Our Christmas Party will be Saturday, December 17, at 6 p.m. It will be catered, and held in our Fellowship Hall. Also bring a white elephant gift if you wish to participate in the gift exchange. It is always a lot of fun!
