Two Hope women escaped from a crash Monday when their vehicle landed in a field upside down.

According to police reports, a gray SUV slid on the icy road, went off the roadway, flipped over and slid down into a field off of County Road 1000N near Interstate 65. Judy Jackson, with the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department, said Deputy Andrew Dougan was called to the crash scene at 2:39 p.m. Monday and found the driver, Victoria Hagan, 31, and her passenger, Samantha Thompson, 32, already out of the car when he arrived.

Both Hagan and Thompson were wearing seatbelts, Jackson said. The women were taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for evaluation.

Assisting Dougan at the scene were deputies, Lt. Greg Duke and Sgt. Jim Stevens; Indiana State Police, German Township Volunteer Fire Department, Columbus Regional Hospital ambulance and Edinburgh paramedics.[[In-content Ad]]
