Immunization, prescription drug reminders issued by school nurse

By HSJ Online [email protected]

The Hope Elementary Nurse's Office is reminding parents and guardians of issues concerning prescription drugs and immunizations.

Prescription medication that must be taken by students during the school day must be brought in the original container and not a baggie. Written permission from the parent/guardian is required to dispense the medicine.

Parents of 5th-grade students are reminded that the following immunizations are required by the start of the 2015-16:

  • 2 doses of varicella (chickenpox) vaccine on or after the first birthday separated by age-appropriate interval or written history of disease, proof of having had the disease.

  • 1 dose of tetanus-diptheria-acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap) given on or after 10 years of age.

  • 1 dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4)
