A group of students at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business have taken on a class project to help HSJ Online grow its readership and increase advertising.

Haley Webster, a junior in the marketing and business analytics program at the school and a Hauser graduate, reached out to HSJ Online to offer their assistance as part of a one-credit class, "Compass III: Leadership Challenge."

Other students working on the project are:

• Andrew Shen - Accounting & Finance

• Cassandra Dickey - Marketing & Business Analytics

• Eric Stanley - Finance

• Kayla Armstrong - Accounting

• Shihe Zhang - Finance & International Business

The class met last week at Indiana University with members of the Heritage of Hope Media Division's committee that oversees HSJ Online, including David Webster and Bud Herron. Among the topics of discussion were the history of HSJ Online, its mission and goals.

HSJ Online was launched by Heritage of Hope to fill the need for community news since the closing of the Hope Star-Journal in October 2014, after the death of the newspaper's publisher and editor, Larry Simpson. HSJ Online offers free news and information to the community and subsists on generous grants, donations and community advertising.

Since launching in January 2015, HSJ Online has had more than 358,000 page views and in August 2015 had 16,273 unique visitors to the site.

The class plans to have a detailed project plan in place by Sept. 18th.[[In-content Ad]]
