Ivy Tech offers drawing class
This summer, local artist Allison Horner will lead a drawing course at Ivy Tech Community College Columbus, 4475 Central Avenue in Columbus.
The class is titled "Drawing for Non-Majors," and enrollment is open to all. Beginners can join and learn the basics, while practiced artists can brush up on their skills.
Starting in June, the class will meet twice weekly in the studio of the Visual Communications department. Students will be taught to use various dry media, sightseeing tools and techniques to create realistic still-lifes and portraits. In addition to the work done in class, each student will maintain a sketchbook in which they will record and develop their ideas. Regular critiques will be conducted, providing constructive feedback as students bring projects to completion. Participation in critique teaches students to respond critically to artistic works as well as articulate the concepts and logic behind their own work.
Allison Horner has a bachelor of fine arts in painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design: The University for Creative Careers. Her work can be found online at Behance.net.
The eight-week course will run from June 8th through Aug. 1st and will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
